Why Co-Curricular Activities Matter:
At St Mary’s, we believe in a well-rounded education for all students. That's why we offer a variety of co-curricular programs designed to build social skills and let students explore interests outside the classroom. Whether it's sports, the Arts, or community service, we encourage our students to try new things and form friendships across year levels.
What We Offer:
Sports:
On enrolment, students are placed in one of three sports houses – Rooney (red), Potter (blue) or Kelly (gold). Students compete in these houses in Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming carnivals. Children from the same family are placed in the same house.
We have a Health and Physical Education specialist who teaches all classes weekly. We also provide other opportunities for specialist teaching in other sporting areas such as gymnastics, athletics and swimming lessons.
Opportunities exist in a wide variety of sports for children to gain representation at zone, regional, state and national levels. Students also compete in inter-school competitions, including Broncos Cup, Interschool Hockey and Warwick Ball Games.
All children are encouraged and supported to enjoy themselves and achieve their personal best no matter which sport they are playing.
The Arts:
Co-curricular opportunities in The Arts include:
Camps and Excursions:
For our Year 5 and Year 6 students, we offer camps focused on leadership and team-building skills. Additionally, we enrich classroom learning with educational excursions at every grade level. We plan each trip carefully, always considering its educational value, student needs, and cost. All parents are encouraged to give permission for their children to participate.
