Parent Engagement Network

St Mary’s is enriched by the commitment of the parents, guardians, carers and extended family to engage with the learning of their children and building a strong, supportive community.

Our Parent Engagement Network is one of the ways in which parents come together with school staff to be informed, consulted and collaborate on the key priorities within the school’s Strategic Plan.

Shared Values

Our Parent Engagement Network is built on and demonstrates in its operations and actions

  • meaningful relationships
  • mutual respect
  • trust
  • understanding.

How We Network

  • two ‘school business’ forums eg policy and procedures, strategic development
  • four ‘parent engagement’ forums eg teaching and learning, mental health and wellbeing, neuroscience and behaviours, growth mindset, resilience
  • committees (as needed) to assist with fundraising or agreed upon focus areas
  • extra forums as needed

Parental Involvement

We encourage parents to engage with our school on a regular basis. Parental support is particularly appreciated in these areas.

  • classroom helpers
  • listening to children read
  • helping with art and craft
  • assisting in the tuckshop
  • assisting with sports coaching and at sporting events
  • volunteering for working bees
  • excursion attendance
